If Youve Had Epilespy but Grown Out of It Will Riding Roller Coasters Cause It Again
I used to be afraid of roller coasters, but now I proudly carry a 6 Flags season pass. (And I don't use it for the kiddie rides!)
Are y'all agape of roller coasters? Are you lot always left behind holding anybody's stuff equally they have the fourth dimension of their lives? Terminate your fear with these steps, and shortly someone else will be property your stuff.
From what I take seen and heard, there are three principal reasons that people are scared of roller coasters and thrill rides:
- The fear of heights.
- The fright of an accident happening on the ride that could in injury or death.
- The fearfulness of that tingling feeling you lot go in your tummy when you experience high speeds and steep drops.
Each fear tin can exist overcome. How practice I know? Well, I had a fear of all three, merely at present I can proudly say that I carry a Six Flags season pass, and I don't utilise it for the kiddie rides.
Fear of Heights
Acrophobia is the fright of heights and ane of the master reasons many are afraid of thrill rides and roller coasters. Okay, and then now you know what information technology's called, only you really want to know is how to overcome it. What I did to overcome this fear was very constructive, and it may exist as effective for you. The first coaster I ever conquered was Nitro at Six Flags Dandy Adventure. Nitro is 230 feet high, and it is an absolute monster of a structure. When I saw Nitro in person, I literally nigh threw upward. Only I knew I really wanted conquer my fright, and I was determined to make Nitro my starting time roller coaster.
As I mentioned before, I had three reasons I was afraid of riding coasters. The fear of heights was the get-go one I had to overcome. This is because acrophobia is really a fear of the physical size of the drops. Only the sight of the ride turned my tummy. Therefore, to overcome the fear, I made sure I never looked straight at Nitro, fifty-fifty while I waited in line for the ride. If I looked at the ride and its massive pinnacle, I knew it would only brand me more scared.
I finally fabricated it onto the ride, which is when y'all encounter your second acrophobic hurdle. When you are on your way upward to the meridian of the ride, do non look downwards! If you look down, you lot will be so scared that the ride volition non be fun at all for you lot. You lot volition likely experience queasy, especially if you have a very extreme fright of heights. I had a very difficult time with this aspect of overcoming the fearfulness, considering Nitro takes a very long time to become to the top of the colina (if you lot take ridden information technology, you know what I'm talking about). But just make sure you don't look down, and, trust me, you volition exist fine. Look straight ahead and relax. Let the ride do its task and take yous up to the tiptop. If you think you lot can't do it, go on with a proficient friend who loves roller coasters. Now, with your friend next to y'all on the ride, close your eyes while on the mode up. Take your friend tell you when the drop is nearly to come then you tin open your optics and get fix for ane of the about fun experiences of your life.
Don't look directly at the ride in line, and don't look downwardly on the way up during the ride. If yous exercise these two things and stay relaxed, y'all volition conquer your fear of heights. But, for me, this was only i aspect of my fearfulness. I withal had two more to overcome.
Fear of Blow During the Ride
There have been tragic accidents on roller coasters, this is true. But, at that place accept been far more accidents in cars than on roller coasters. Therefore, if you are fine riding in a car, there should exist no reason you should be scared on a roller coaster. Of course, I understand that people are just agape. I, myself, understood the fact that it was very, very, unlikely that I would always have gotten into a fatal accident on a roller coaster. Yet, I was even so afraid. I did't have a logical reason as to why, I simply was. I'm sure that'due south how many of you lot are. Here's what I did to overcome the fright.
As I said, the starting time roller coaster I went on was Nitro. The first thing I did when I got into my seat on Nitro was cheque to restraint. I checked it in every way possible, and made sure it was snug on my body. I as well made certain I picked one of the seats in the eye, not in the front end. This was for psychological reasons. I figured if there were people in front of me, I could call up to myself, "Hey, these people are fine, so I will exist, as well." Also to comfort myself, I held on tight to the hand bars throughout the ride. Information technology only helped me feel safer holding onto something.
To overcome your fear of an accident happening during the ride, do what I did. Check your restraints to assure yourself that it volition hold you in during the ride. Also, do not sit in the forepart. Sit behind people to assure yourself that since those people are fine, yous will be too. Finally, hold on to the hand confined to feel even more than safe. Do this until you lot experience completely comfortable on roller coasters, and in no time you'll be in the front seat, with your hands high in the air throughout the whole ride.
For some, seeing a video from the front end seat of the ride, before actually riding it, tin can help.

Fright of the Tingling Feeling in Your Breadbasket
This is one of the hardest things to overcome if information technology is the main reason you lot are afraid of roller coasters. From what I sympathize, nigh people who are afraid of roller coasters are agape for this reason. It was certainly the main reason I was frightened. I was scared of that feeling when its nigh every bit if your stomach is going to popular out of your breast. Many of yous may experience the same manner.
There are two ways to overcome your fear of the tingling feeling in your stomach. 1 way is merely to suck it up and deal with it. That is the style I chose. What you practice is simply continue the biggest and tallest roller coaster. Just become on it and deal with the feeling on the first drib. In one case past the first drop, you've done it. You've gotten past the tingling feeling, and you lot've conquered your fear. Now, since yous went on such a tall ride (like I did with Nitro), every other ride will feel the same, or not even as bad. The next ride tin't be any worse since you already went on the tallest one you could notice. In other words, you've completely conquered your fear of the tingling feeling in your tummy by just riding one, huge, ride.
The other way of overcoming this fear takes a little more time. What you lot can practise is gradually go on larger roller coasters. Start, keep a very small, non as thrilling ride. The tingling will not exist equally bad on a smaller ride, although you volition still experience it somewhat. So, gradually ride more than thrilling rides until yous're used to the tingling, and set up for the big coaster. If you choose this method, you will exist taking gradual, smaller, steps in overcoming the fear. With the first method, y'all are just taking an elevator to the top.
The main problem with this fear is the fact that at that place is no mode to avoid it. No matter what y'all practice, you after going to feel the tingling in your breadbasket. Luckily, you lot will only feel the tingling for nigh two seconds on the very get-go drop of the ride. Therefore, the best advice I can give yous is just to deal with information technology for two seconds. After a while of riding coasters, you volition be completely used to the feeling. Yous may even begin to look forward to it. I know it sounds crazy, I know, but it's true.
Expanding What Yous Can Now Ride
If you used these steps and went on your first coaster, it's fourth dimension to pace it up. Now it'south time to get on looping, inversion coasters. If yous are afraid of loops, the just thing I can say is don't be. Nothing will happen to yous on loops and, really, they aren't even bad. Shut your eyes if you have to, during the loop, and before you know it the loop will be over. You also tin can get-go going on specially designed coasters, similar Superman: Ultimate Flying, where yous are in a flight position during the ride, inverted coasters, floorless coasters, or coasters where yous are standing upward. If these sort of coasters scare you, just think that they accept been checked, tested, and designed to make sure that nothing will happen to you lot and that you will have an astonishing feel.
Floorless Coaster
Inverted Coaster
Flying Coaster
Standing Coaster
I really hope this helped all those out there afraid of roller coasters. I hope yous decided to just do it. Maybe yous decided to get on Nitro first, like me. If y'all did, I hope y'all had a smashing time and I hope you're glad you did it. At present you can brand up for all the fun you missed out on over the years. As well, you can finally say it: Y'all have conquered your fear and been on a real roller coaster.

The main reason i was scared to go along roller coasters was considering of the dropping feeling. I would always concur the collywobbles in and information technology just got really uncomfortable. and someday I would look at a roller coaster, I would freak out and start to hyperventilate. I really wanted to conquer my fear but I didn't know how to. Someone told me that it really helps to scream on a roller coaster so I tried information technology and now I'thousand not and then scared (they're really really fun!
As well information technology really helps to breathe while you are continuing in line. When you lot are waiting in line and freaking out, you lot are not getting skilful oxygen. Try some diaphragmatic breaths and maybe become lost in a vocal while you are waiting (it takes your listen off the fearfulness).
Recollect that fear is just a lie (it is your trunk's mechanism for staying safe but information technology tin cause a great deal of anxiety when at that place's no cause for damage really nowadays...yous only think information technology's present)

To avoid the stomach feeling from a roller coaster or any other ride I flex my stomach muscles actually tightly and I won't experience information technology. You just tighten your abs similar to how they tighten when yous are laughing.

I dearest roller coasters! I used to fear those with more than one inversion! But a dream about me going to Disney's Hollywood Studios whipped me up into riding them and released that fear a few years ago.
I dreamed that I was in the park heading there. There were turismos (Brazilian tour groups in matching shirts) everywhere. Despite that I was looking forward for this, but I woke upward before getting in line. Lo and behold - I got into it in existent life!
Besides the tips stated in this crawly Hub, fifty-fifty dreams helped few people conquer their fright of roller coasters.
